چکیده
Site geology: The geology of the Oak Park site is one of limestone-drift materials overlying regional limestone-bedrock (over which two broad groups of soils occur: light-textured gravelly soils derived from limestone, and more heavy-textured soils derived from till). The soil underlying Miscanthus-plantations used in the experiments the former type, with a perched clay/subsoil layer under the BSapplication site.

N2o Emission from Miscanthus, Rye and Oilseed Rape
greater than CO2 (Callander et al., 1995). Therefore, the objective of the present work was to quantify the annual emission of N2O from winter rye, M. ‘Giganteus’ and winter oilseed rape. Furthermore the N2O emission will be related to the estimated net CO2-displacement. The annual emissions of N2O were measured using a closed-chamber technique and were based on results obtained by Jørgensen et...
متن کاملEvaluation of the microbiological quality of wastewater effluent-irrigated maize
Background and Aim: Water crisis in many regions of the world especially arid and semi-arid areas such as Iran, is an important obstacle for socioeconomic development and food security. Under such circumstances, wastewater reuse in agriculture can be regarded an important alternative water source. However, treated wastewater may contain some types of pathogenic microorganisms which can threaten...
متن کاملSurvey of organic wastewater contaminants in biosolids destined for land application.
In this study, the presence, composition, and concentrations of organic wastewater contaminants (OWCs) were determined in solid materials produced during wastewater treatment. This study was undertaken to evaluate the potential of these solids, collectively referred to as biosolids, as a source of OWCs to soil and water in contact with soil. Nine different biosolid products, produced by municip...

Introduction: With thirteen critical erosion hubs containing an area of roughly 532 thousand hectares, and 14 regions influenced by wind erosion with an area of 1144311 hectares, the Yazd province ranks fifth among the Iranian provinces in terms of the magnitude of crisis hub, and third in terms of the extent of affected areas. The history of desertification activities in the province dates bac...
متن کاملMethods for Silicon Analysis in Soil, Plant and Fertilizers
To develop recommendations for field applications of silicate materials, knowledge of the soil Si status and the availability of Si in the amendment are essential. To determine a crops response to application of Si requires calibration of soil Si status and plant uptake. While a method for determining plant Si levels using the auto-clave induced digestion procedure (Elliott and Snyder, 1991) is...
